The Beginning

Allison and Cameron have a beautiful original Hawthorn home that had a 1980’s extension at the rear, this part of their house needed a face lift and total re design , the brief was to keep the existing footprint and add another level with a balcony overlooking the back yard. The owners vision was to open up the rear of the house to overlook the new swimming pool and entertainment area having a modern but feel using some classical finishes.

The Result

This renovation and extension is highlighted with its rich Australian Spotted Gum Flooring that runs from the front door through to the back living area, it is complemented with the use of natural light using double glazed windows and sharp square set plaster lines. The kitchen is a well-appointed with stunning Marble bench tops and a kitchen design with practical storage and the latest appliances.

The swimming pool and water feature create an oasis of bliss in the middle of an inner city suburb adding to the complete transformation of this project.

The Beginning

The brief from the owners of this development was to take the project from start to finish, Mori Constructions alongside KJD Kirstin Jenkins Design, planned and designed the development creating a streamline process ready to construct. As the owners didn’t know if they were going to keep the town houses or sell them, it was critical to keep the cost down but also provide the high level finish to maximize return.

Caufield Renovation

The Beginning

Dan and Karen contacted me with  “Can you Please Help Us”, originally with another builder their experience didn’t start well and found themselves with a semi demolished house and no builder. After meeting Dan and Karen it was clear that they were genuine people caught in the middle of a disaster out of their control. Working alongside them both at every turn we put back this puzzle, the team at Mori Constructions completed Dan and Karen’s home exceeding their expectations.

Situated in one of Hawthorn’s best streets this original Hawthorn Classic home was in desperate need to be brought back to its original beauty with a modern twist adding a spacious living and entertaining area both inside and out. The owners were passionate about bringing the original footprint back to its original beauty ,using and recreating every timber moulding ,retaining the original doors right through to custom making magnificent ceiling cornice to match the original.

The Result

As you walk through the hallway your eyes are drawn to the 12 foot plus ceilings and decorative arches and mouldings, reaching the end of the hallway the home transforms into a modern master piece. Highlight windows and large bi folding doors submerses the rear rooms with natural light showcasing the modern architecture, the kitchen overlooks the pool and entertaining area that is surrounded with Victorian honed Bluestone paving.

Hawthorn Grove

Albert Park Renovation

The Beginning

Paul and Julie had been living in this house for more than 30 years, the house was originally built in the 1880’s and although the house had a small renovation in 1984 the original bones of the house remained. The brief for this build was to keep the front facade and front two rooms, then extend back and up. The challenges faced were building within boundary to boundary and access and tight council requirements, but with careful planning and cooperation with neighbours this house was transformed into a modern home keeping its original front features.

The Beginning

The owners Alan and Cheryl had a specific brief, they wanted the traditional look of a French Provincial home but with a modern twist. The site conditions were a challenge to create a flat floor plan but with some clever design and experience with these conditions Mori Constructions built the dream.
